Whether you're hiking a mountain, strolling through the forest, or fishing on a lake, there's no end to the natural splendor in Houston. Speaking of fishing, there are several area lakes (including Prator Lake, Loon Lake, and Bear Paw Lake) that are stocked with rainbow trout and other fish. They're big, they're delicious, and they're just waiting to be caught!

Don't be fooled by nearby Lazy Mountain's name- it isn't for the faint of heart! However, it does make for an excellent day hike. With occasional steps built right into the path, you'll see both forest and rocky tundra on the ascent. From the summit, and along much of the way, you can see a great view of nearby Matanuska Peak, as well as Pioneer Peak, Twin Peaks, and Bodenburg Butte to the south.
