Stowe Mountain Lodge: Pampering Without the Pretension

Vacationers flock to New England for luxury stays comprised of opulent accommodations, stunning scenery, and an array of attractions. More often than not, however, these pampering getaways welcome only adults looking to escape their everyday stresses.

Stowe Mountain Lodge, on the other hand, showcases the Northeast’s utmost elegance while welcoming everyone from friends to family to dogs. This Vermont vacation pampers without pretension, featuring some of New England’s best skiing, a world-class spa, and artisan dining.

Situated in the shadows of Mount Mansfield, it’s safe to say Stowe Mountain Lodge is a skier’s sanctuary. And, ski-in/ski-out access puts you just a few footsteps from the pristine peaks. Traverse 116 total trails spread out over 485 skiable acres and find a run for every skill level. The Overeasy transfer gondola connects Mount Mansfield with Spruce Peak and offers entertainment at so many elevations, including the highest peak in Vermont at 4,395 feet.

After a day skiing or snowboarding the slopes, unwind at The Spa and Wellness Center at Stowe Mountain Lodge. This 21,000-square-foot facility features a state-of-the-art fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, soothing Jacuzzis, a Relaxation Lounge, and a hot/cold treatment facility. Retreat to one of the 18 private treatment rooms and indulge in options ranging from Swedish massages to locally inspired body scrubs. Little ones can relax at the KidSpa, which offers mini spa treatments for kids six and older.

This summer, the family will also be able to try out two new attractions at Stowe Mountain Lodge: the Adventure ZipTour and Aerial Treetop Adventure.  The ZipTour is the most technologically advanced zipline attraction in the world today.  Totalling just under two miles in length, the zip line tour on Mount Mansfield is the 2nd longest tour in the United States and consists of three separate zip line spans.

The Aerial Treetop Adventure is an adventurous obstacle course set up in trees in the wooded area adjacent to Mansfield Base Lodge.  Participants clip themselves into a cable system that runs throughout the course.  During the adventure, participants will ride zip lines, walk over suspended bridges, scramble up nets, cross log swings, and much more.  The Treetop Adventure and Adventure ZipTour are expected to open in early July 2015.

Once you work up an appetite, sample the cuisine of Solstice Restaurant and the Hourglass Lounge, two of Stowe’s most palate-pleasing destinations. These renowned eateries serve up impressive wine lists, craft beers, and seasonal New England cuisine. Executive Chef Josh Berry creates a range of dishes that star local Vermont ingredients. And, with breathtaking Green Mountain scenery, these views are worth dining for.

When the sun sinks behind the mountains, return to the resort and kick up your feet. The 300 guest rooms and cabin rentals range from one- to three-bedroom suites, complete with exceptional amenities. Marble bathrooms, goose down feather beds, custom-made lamps by Simon Pearce, and much more put you in the lap of luxury. Soak in the mountain scenery from your private balcony or flip on the LCD flat-screen television.

Of course, any resort can claim to be at the forefront of luxury. It’s quite a different thing to receive praise from a reputable source. Stowe Mountain Lodge earned a Four-Star Hotel Rating by Forbes Travel Guide in its Official 2015 Global Star Rating Announcement. This isn’t anything new, as the luxurious lodge has received numerous honors throughout the years.

Combining unmatched luxury, sensational skiing options, and a world-class spa, Stowe Mountain Lodge offers elegance for everyone.
