The Trapp Family Lodge has an incredible and famed history that you might be surprised to learn you've heard about before. The von Trapp family, originally from Austria, escaped to the United States in the early 1940s, where they toured the country as the Trapp Family Singers. They settled in Stowe, Vermont in 1942, as the beautiful mountain setting reminded them of their Austrian homeland. It wasn't until 1950 that they began welcoming guests to their family home and after a fire in 1980, their original farmhouse was replaced by the current and beautiful Austrian-inspired lodge that you see today. The von Trapp family has been depicted in a couple of works of media, most notably the Broadway musical and subsequent Hollywood film, The Sound of Music!
