King Salmon Fishing in the Remote Alaskan Frontier

Nestled on a remote island on the southeast corner of Alaska one can find Island Point Lodge, where the foggy mountains meet the emerald spruce trees and the winding waterways hold some of the world’s best fish: the mammoth, flavorful Alaskan king salmon.

King salmon is the largest of the pacific salmon species and have the highest oil and healthy omega-3 content of any species. But king salmon fishing in southeast Alaska is seasonal in order to keep the species thriving, and is closed until mid-June or even mid-July in some areas of southeast Alaska. However, king salmon fishing opens on June 1 in a select few locations, including the Wrangell Narrows. Located in the heart of Wrangell Narrows: rustic, distinctive Island Point Lodge.

Island Point’s geographical location makes it the perfect resort to visit for king salmon fishermen of Washington, Oregon or California, but the rustic charm and breathtaking wildlife and natural beauty are the main reason people from all over the globe make Island Point Lodge one of the premiere locations for salmon and halibut fishing.
