Fly Fishing is Always in Season at High Hampton Inn

Experience fishing stripped down to its purest form. No expensive gadgets. No oversized boat. No fancy lures. It’s just you, your fishing pole, and the sparkling waters. This is fly fishing in North Carolina, where the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains serve as your scenery while you battle bass and various species of trout.

There’s no better base camp for your angling adventures than High Hampton Inn. Whether you’re reeling in trophy trout at one of two onsite lakes or casting off to the nearby Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail, you’re in for an unforgettable fishing experience. With so many angling options and gorgeous year-round weather, fly fishing is always in season.

The Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail awaits in the nearby Jackson County and features some of the best trout waters in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The trail features 15 different stops that range from streams to creeks to rivers. Being the only trail of its kind in the United States, this angling oasis provides fisherman with the perfect conditions year round.

“Since High Hampton Inn is located at a 3,600-foot elevation, in an area with temperatures that are generally 15 to 20 degrees cooler than than low-lying regions, we have the perfect conditions for stellar trout and fly fishing,” High Hampton Inn General Manager Clifford Meads said.

While there is plenty of phenomenal fishing on the trail, you need only step outside your door for some fishing fun. High Hampton’s two private, fully stocked lakes are teeming with rainbow trout, bass, and bream. This means that there is no closed season or fees. And, for those who are new to the art of fly fishing, lessons with expert guides are available.

“In addition to the many rivers and streams that are great for fly fishing, our two fully stocked lakes make catching the perfect fish even easier,” Meads said. “And our chef can prepare your catch for you to enjoy in our dining room.”

Aside from fly fishing, the area offers a mountain of outdoor activities. Practice two different swings on mountain-cradled golf courses and onsite tennis courts. Explore the land hiking the lush nature trails meandering through the property and experience the water on a peaceful boating expedition. For those looking for peakside pampering, indulge in the variety of total body relaxation and and de-stressing treatments at the Hampton Health Club & Spa.

Optimal weather conditions, a vast array of fishing sites, and onsite lessons make High Hampton Inn a fly fishing resort for all seasons.
