Texas B&B with History and Modernity

Surround yourself with a sense of history by booking a stay at the Stanley-Fisher House Bed & Breakfast. Originally built in 1832 by Samuel Rhoads Fisher, the First Secretary of the Republic of Texas Navy and a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, the Stanley-Fisher House is registered as a Texas Historic Landmark and also likely accommodated Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston. Fully-restored to its original, true form, the Stanley-Fisher House invites you to relax in the home, in your private bedroom, or on our screened-in porch, and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast each morning.

Located in Matagorda, Texas, just a stone's throw away from the Gulf of Mexico, one can easily enjoy a relaxing stroll along the beach or go fishing while staying at the Stanley-Fisher House Bed & Breakfast. The proximity to the beach is an added bonus to cap off a B&B getaway.
Registered as a Texas Historic Landmark, the Stanley-Fisher House is one of the first houses ever built in Texas. In 1832, Samuel Rhoads Fisher, of Philadelphia, built the house for his family. Fisher was one of 300 colonists recruited by Stephen F. Austin, and the First Secretary of the Republic of Texas Navy and an original signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
The quaint and historical charm of the Stanley-Fisher House Bed & Breakfast provides the perfect ambiance for the romantic getaway, whether it's an anniversary or just a weekend escape. Enjoy the seclusion of your own private bedroom with your significant other by opting to have your home-cooked breakfast delivered straight to your room!
