Pelican Bay on the west side of the lake at Rocky Point, can fish well from May to September. A boat, float tube, or pontoon boat is essential to fish the bay effectively. Many anglers troll and fish bait. Fly-fishing can be productive for those who take the time to learn the nuances of the bay.
The Williamson River and Upper Klamath Lake are rated as premier fly fishing destinations in the U. S. for large to very large redband rainbow trout. Rainbows weighing upward of 10 pounds are not at all uncommon in these waters and rainbows exceeding fifteen pounds are always possible!
