Here you will find 24 cabins with 36 units (12 cabins have 2 units included) and a 6-room hotel. Each accommodation offers plenty of space to unwind as well as modern amenities to ensure you feel right at home. When you're not relaxing indoors, step outside to enjoy all that this beautiful getaway has to offer. The mountainous setting makes Keweenaw an ideal destination for mountain biking. In 2018, the lodge worked with Copper Harbor Trails Clubs to create the "Back 9" trails on the property for mountain biking; the Back 9 includes three specific loops named Chipmunk Run, Moose on the Loose, and Little Loon. They all offer stunning views of the area and a challenging yet exciting experience for mountain bikers of all skill levels. The refreshing mountain scenery and trails also provide an excellent opportunity for runners and hikers; explore the natural surroundings at your leisure and discover pristine beaches and waterfalls along the way. And if you're looking for a more quiet afternoon, the onsite 9-hole golf course is the perfect way to enjoy the views without having to go too far! Keweenaw Mountain Lodge has a rich history that dates back to 1934. The lodge was built under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The 1929 stock market crash led to a decline in local mining profits and in 1932, these mining companies announced they would be suspending mining activities. Most of the company was located in Keweenaw County and nearly 1,000 families were suddenly without work or money. There was a 75.2% unemployment rate in the county, which was not only the highest in the state, but the entire country. President Roosevelt issued the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) to give states and local governments financial assistance during the Great Depression and Keweenaw County received some of these efforts. The Keweenaw County Road Commission eventually came up with a plan to put the unemployed back to work by constructing roads in the area and then later what was known as the Keweenaw Park & Golf Course project. Construction for the project started in 1933 and eventually developed to include what is now the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge! test
