Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa is in historic Dana Point, the location called “the most romantic spot on the California coast” by American author Richard Henry Dana, Jr. The young Harvard graduate first spied the beautiful bluffs near Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1836, after a two-year voyage as a common seaman on the brig Pilgrim. He documented his voyage and the area in such passionate detail in his memoir Two Years Before the Mast that Capistrano Bay’s residents were moved to change their city’s name to Dana’s.
