From the time the last glaciers retreated from Algonquin’s rocky surface until the end of the logging era and the establishment of Ontario’s oldest provincial park, the landscape, and the forests have preserved the area’s history. Natural history is on display on each and every walking trail in the area of the park. Interpretive written guide books at each trail explain the significance of features you see from many numbered points along their route. Human history is preserved at the Algonquin Logging Museum but perhaps its best description is displayed in the wonderful exhibits in the modern visitor centre. View the activities video on their website for a video tour of the park’s many interpretive opportunities.

To us, there is nothing more heartwarming than the number of couples who have honeymooned at Killarney Lodge over the years and then chosen to return for their silver and gold wedding anniversaries. Other couples come every year for their anniversaries, whether they have honeymooned here or not. The staff loves making sure each of their visits is perfect in every detail. Preserving all the charm and comfort of the lodge that has made it so romantic and memorable is almost a sacred trust to us!
