Fishing and Family at Northland Lodge

Imagine a place where deer, owls and fox live in their natural habitat, where eagles soar overhead and loons sing their haunting songs into the night. Imagine a place where hand-hewn cabins stand in the heart of undisturbed forests. Does this sound like a dream vacation? Whether you’re looking to bring your family to explore the beauty of nature or prefer to unwind at the lake, you can make that dream a reality at Northland Lodge.

Located outside of Hayward, Wisconsin, Northland Lodge offers a beautiful outdoor setting for both fishing trips and family friendly getaways. With 175 private acres of land surrounded by the pristine beauty of the Chequamegan National Forest, the natural getaway to be found at Northland Lodge is second to none.

For those who want to enjoy the lake for a day of fishing, Northland Lodge offers easy access to Class A musky waters in Lost Land Lake. Because this lake and connected Teal Lake have a 10 mph speed limit, their waters provide you with 2500 acres of undisturbed weed beds. Cast your line for the elusive musky, large and smallmouth bass, panfish, walleye, and northern pike in spring-fed lakes. Northland Lodge provides you with a row boat for the duration of your stay, and also has motor, fishing rig or pontoon rentals on site, so all you have to worry about is your rod and reel.

The family-owned and operated Northland Lodge lovingly provides 24/7 service with hands to help and hearts to listen. "The Thearin family is truly the kindest family we have ever had the privilege of knowing,” said Katherine Van Gheem. “They always are happy to see you and ready to help you in any way."

This welcoming atmosphere makes the resort a vibrant place for families to unplug and spend time together. The resort hosts organized activities including a weekly interactive sing-a-long and talent show that features unique instruments like the stumpf fiddle, gut bucket, washboard, and chime band. Take advantage of a game room, horseshoes, badminton, volleyball, playground complex, swim slide, water raft and toddler sandbox or unwind at the end of your day to a crackling campfire under brilliant stars. If your family would prefer to explore the natural beauty of the area, there are a variety of nature trails that wind through the Chequamegan National Forest; introduce your kids to chipmunks, fox, deer, and other wildlife. For meals, have a picnic on the lakeshore or head to nearby Knott Island on Teal Lake for a rustic cookout under a canopy of untouched forests.

No matter how you spend your day, at the end of the day, a clean and charming cabin is waiting for you at the resort. The twenty cabins at Northland Lodge are spaced 30-50 feet apart just 6 to 20 feet from the water’s edge. These two to four bedroom cabins come fully furnished with comfortable furniture and tub/shower units in each bathroom and supplied cookware for the kitchen.

“We can tell [they] put love into [their] cabins,” said Shannon Weber after her stay at Northland Lodge. “They are so clean and beautiful.”

Whether your dream outdoor vacation is a family getaway or an exciting day of fishing, Northland Lodge is an ideal retreat in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
