An Olympic Peninsula Vacation With Something For Everyone

Some people just seem to have everything figured out. Happily married, beautiful children, a well-paying job, etc…These are the kind of people many aspire to be, people many would love to pick the brains of to figure out just how they’re so good at being good. The Resort at Port Ludlow is that person in resort-form, a place that every other resort looks at and says, “Now why can’t we be like that?”

A huge portion of Port Ludlow’s guests are families on vacation and couples on romantic getaways, both looking for unmitigated fun and relaxation. But every type of traveler can find something to love here, including those flying solo. First and foremost, for those seeking a private oasis free of the noise and clutter of the city, this is the place for you. Port Ludlow’s setting on the edge of Puget Sound makes for immaculate beauty and a fantastic environment for meditation (or just reading a good book). "Guests traveling to the Olympic Peninsula are often surprised by the overwhelming beauty – the feeling of “AHHHH” is what we hear of their first impressions," General Manager Debbie Wardrop says, having witnessed that scenario all-too-often.

Obviously there is plenty to do that’s a little more active than meditation. Whether you have a hankering for some authentic Puget Sound seafood or seek a thrilling adventure, you’ll find something at or near Port Ludlow that will scratch your itch. For foodies (or if you’re just hungry), the award-winning and onsite Fireside Restaurant features majestic views of Port Ludlow Bay, and a daily menu that includes the bounty of local farm vegetables, produce, artisan meats and cheeses. When you’ve had your fill of delicious treats, venture over to the resort’s beautiful 18-hole golf course. Designed by architect Robert Muir Graves, the championship course delights players of all skill levels and offers fantastic views of the surrounding area including Ludlow Bay and the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.

If you’re interested in something more adventurous, don’t worry, Port Ludlow has that covered, too. Their onsite marina makes it easy to enjoy all that their coastal setting has to offer, whether it’s a day of boating across the water or simply basking in the views as you enjoy a barbecue at the gazebo. Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard to explore this breathtaking destination at your leisure. The marina provides one and two-person Wildness System kayaks and inflatable Tower stand-up paddleboards for easy transportation.

Whichever you choose, make sure to visit the nearby twin islands and bring along your camera. From the water, you’ll bear witness to the solemn coastline, covered in rocks, pine trees, and dark sand beaches, stretching far off into the mist. It makes for a spectacular sight, but to truly appreciate it you’ve got to get a little closer! Go hike or bike any or all of the 26 miles of maintained trails surrounding Ludlow and experience firsthand the magical views and abundant wildlife. If you’re more in the mood for a peaceful walk, head to the beach and go your own pace as you soak in the views.

All this, and we haven’t even mentioned the 37-room boutique waterfront inn you’ll be staying in! Each of The Resort at Port Ludlow’s beautifully appointed guestrooms feature classy amenities, including a jetted tub, fireplace, Keurig coffee makers, and local, handmade Sweet Life bath salts, soaps, and lotion bars! From your room to the beauty of Puget Sound, it’s a wonder that guests can ever will themselves to leave. "There is so much to do, and our guests find reasons to return over and over again – for the outdoor recreation, the cultural opportunities, the memorable food and beverage experiences or simply to recharge,” Ms. Wardrop says. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
