An Exceptional Team-Building Getaway on Rice Lake

Deciding where to take a group on a retreat can be a challenging task. With so many options to weigh it can seem overwhelming. Featuring a wide array of unique and engaging activities, the Elmhirst’s Resort may be the perfect solution.

Just a 90 minute drive from Toronto, Elmhirst’s Resort is set on Rice Lake. Being on the lake offers plenty of opportunities to be outside both in the summer, with boating and swimming, and also the winter, with ice fishing. However, the resort doesn’t just rest it’s laurels on their pristine location. The team-building activities the resort puts on, though a little unorthodox, are sure to please.

Alex Sullivan, Experience Concierge, said, “Our in-demand team-building experiences provide those transformative moments that enhance the well-being and enjoyment of attendees.” It’s not hard to imagine why. The activities range all over the place! As far as food and drinks go, they host a wine tasting in the resort’s cellar where guests can try three different varietals as well as a cooking class where guests can either get a hands-on cooking experience or watch a cooking demo to sample and learn about the food Elmhirst’s serves in their restaurants.

For the more competitive folks, a cardboard boat-building competition pits teams against one another when participants create their own boat with the given materials and race head-to-head. Also, the resort hosts the Johnny Canuck games for the through and through Canadians. Events that shaped the history of Canada are discussed at length--oh, and there’s a fishing line casting competition and air rifle shooting, just to name a few other components of the event.

Beyond those more adrenaline fueled activities, the Elmhirst’s Resort does take pride in having a soothing environment as well. “Elmhirst’s atmosphere of relaxation, comfort, and nature gets people outside and feeling good,” said General Manager Greg Elmhirst. None of that may be more on display than the gourmet campfire -- where guests can enjoy the combination of craft cocktails and s’mores right before heading over to view a firework show above Rice Lake itself!

With whatever activities your group elects to do together you can feel confident that at the Elmhirst’s Resort, there is a little something for everyone.
