Sleeping Bear Resort is centrally located half way between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (Voted most beautiful place in America by Good Morning America). The resort sits at the base of the Leelanau Peninsula which is home to more than 20 wineries and several quaint Lake Michigan coastal villages. The resort sits on a bluff and occupies 450 feet of frontage overlooking the pristine and undeveloped Herendeene Lake, which is a 40 acre no-wake lake. There is a beautiful sandy beach with kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, fishing boats and a large water trampoline for the guests to use free of charge. The resort was founded in 1971 and most recently purchased by Randy and Doreen Fosgard in 2012. Since that time, the accommodations and grounds have been totally renovated.
