Historical - Resorts and Lodges in Colorado
If you are looking for a destination that provides a little history to go along with amazing views, Colorado is the perfect option. Head to Durango and book a night at Colorado Trail Ranch, a dude ranch that initially started as a single barn in 1912. The Tumbling River Ranch features the Ranch House and the Pueblo House, two buildings that were built during the 1920’s. If buildings on the National Register of Historic Places pique your interest, check out Trailhead Lodge in Steamboat Springs. The lodge features two buildings that were built in the 1930’s including The Crawford House and the Christian Science Society.
Breckenridge was founded during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859 and still proudly displays its prospecting history. Though the gold mines around Breckenridge are all shut down, many offer guided tours. In fact, the gravel ridges left by the gold dredges can still be seen along the Blue River!
