Breaking Waves Retreat
A great beach get-away, Breaking Waves Retreat is nestled among the trees in a quiet neighborhood about 3 miles north of Depoe Bay, and just off Hwy 101. This 4 bedroom home with fabulous ocean views can sleep 10 guests and has parking for 4 cars. The first floor great room has an open beam ceiling, a comfy living room area with a queen hide-a-bed and gas fireplace, a well equipped kitchen, and a dining area. A cabinet in the dining area contains an assortment of puzzles and games, and a mini library with a variety of books. The sliding doors open onto a large deck which runs the length of the house! A good place for sitting in the sun, catching the ocean breeze, and listening to the waves. Down the hall are 3 bedrooms (all with queen beds) - one of which has a door onto the deck- , a half bath, and a bath with shower. There is also a large utility room with a washer and dryer. Here you can also find a high chair, pack-n-play, and baby gates. The upper floor holds another living room with 2 sliding doors onto the upper deck, ideal for watching the sun set , or to enjoy the spouting and breaching of the "resident" whale population. There is also a small kitchen with an under counter refrigerator and microwave, the master bedroom [queen bed], and a large bath with tub/shower. Both living rooms have TVs and DVDs. There is also a TV in the master bedroom. Two twin air mattresses with air pumps allow younger guests to sleep in the same rooms with parents. And the house is equipped with wifi. The house sits on a hill with beach access about 4 minutes away down a short but somewhat steep path [toddlers might need help] from the street below. The beach is nearly private, as it is away from tourist areas. Take a long beach walk to Fishing Rock and explore the tide pools at low tide, fly a kite, build sand castles, or hunt for agates. Since the house is located between Lincoln City to the north, and Depoe Bay and Newport just to the south, there are great restaurants nearby, as are the shops at Salishan and the Tanger Outlet shops. The opportunities for fun are endless! Fogarty Creek is only a mile away for picnic, play or bird watching. The Siletz is close for kayaking or wind surfing in the Bay. Check out the mix of galleries or pottery and glass blowing shops. Visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport and the Marine Science Center. Or rent a bike and explore the many trails off the highway. Then come home to enjoy the sunset and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach.
