Golfing on the Central Oregon Coast would be incomplete if you didn’t test your skills at Ocean Dunes Golf Links Located in Florence, this course is a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and has received some nice renovations recently.
Ocean Dunes was built by noted architect William Robinson to be fair yet challenging under a variety of conditions. With a one-of- a-kind layout, awe-inspiring scenery, and a few surprising turns here and there, visitors will enjoy a challenging and memorable golf experience.
Holes have well-earned nicknames. The front nine features Chute, Slippery, Hide & Seek, and Temptation. The back nine is highlighted by holes like Twister, Deception, Pass/Fail, and Ponder.
The emerald green fairways roll over, around, and through wild dunes bordered by colorful gorse, heather, shore pines, and dune grass. Pot bunkers corral small greens and narrow fairways to confound and delight those who play here. As with any quality links layout, the course drains quickly year’round—even after the heaviest of showers. Keep in mind that the coastal climate in Florence is mild—never too hot in summer or too cold in winter.
Golfing in Florence wouldn’t be complete without a great clubhouse and snack/beverage bar, and you’ll find both at Ocean Dunes. They have lessons and carts available to go with the picturesque surroundings of dunes, mountains, and forests.
