$1,595.00

Dates: July 7-13, 2013

Cost: $1595 per person
$2995 per couple

You will never experience a week of more variety and eye opening cultural awakening than you will being part of the Blackfeet annual celebration of the native western way of life.

Enjoy participating in the sacred ritual of the sweat lodge to the bright sunlight riding the Blackfeet country and then sharing the three nights of Indian Rodeo at Stampede Park in Browning, Montana.

You'll be arriving at Bear Creek Ranch for a week of celebrating the North American Indian Days festival or "when the people move together."

We'll be expecting you to arrive at the ranch in mid afternoon and after settling in to your cabin or lodge room you'll be treated to a tour of the ranch and the property surrounding the ranch buildings. Snacks will be available to you although dinner will be early after a roping demonstration in the arena along with a preview of the week for all new guests.

After breakfast on Monday morning you'll be part of a morning full of a hands on horsemanship clinic during which you'll be honing up on your horsemanship skills and be running barrels by the end of the morning exercise. After lunch we're all of into the mountains for a an all afternoon ride.

Monday evening is participation in a "sweat" at the Crawford's homestead in the small native town of Heart Butte. Your host for the evening is Tom and Floy Crawford, lifelong residents of the small community nestled hard up against Heart Butte Mountain. Following the three hour prayer and chant session you'll feel like you've just put in a full day and it's home to a good nights' sleep. This sounds intense, but it is exhilarating and relaxing all at the same time, you will truly enjoy yourself here!

One of the important activities to the Blackfeet people and thus (with no prodding) to all of us here at the ranch is the adherence to the cowboy's first commandment of the West and that is; "be horseback every day of your life and you'll find true happiness." So plan on riding every day while you're at the ranch. You'll be offered the opportunity to ride in the mountains, the foothills, and the prairie! Additionally, we'll be set up in the ranch arena to barrel race, rope, sort cattle, and always work on your horsemanship in a sandy and safe environment.

Following each days' ride beginning on Wednesday night you'll be joining the Bear Creek crew at Stampede Park in Browning for the first of several days of rodeo. Plan on enjoying some of the best entertainment in Montana as the Blackfeet Nation hosts cowboys and cowgirls from coast to coast in an intense rodeo competition. You'll be witness to some of the most talented horse hands anywhere on earth!

In addition to the rodeo activity at Stampede Park the center of Indian Days takes place in and around the large Tipi camp adjacent to the park. Native American food, entertainment, and sale items are available to the general public.
