South Beach Jazz Festival: Have Your Winter Blues Singing a Different Tune

The South Beach Jazz Festival has established itself as a go-to music experience in only its second year, and it will take place January 5-7 at various venues around Miami Beach. Attendees will encounter a comprehensive Jazz experience complete with world-renowned musicians such as Branford Marsalis, Ignacio Berroa, and more. With venues ranging from the historic Jewish Museum of Florida to the Colony Theater, attendees will get a taste of Art Deco Style while they enjoy plenty of live performances. Aside from showcasing great classic, Latin, and New Orleans style Jazz, the event also has the goal of raising public awareness for people with disabilities. In fact, it the only Jazz festival where each of the performing groups includes a person with a disability. RAL: How long has the event been running?

DN: The South Beach Jazz Festival is entering its second year.

 

RAL: How many annual participants do you draw?

DN: Last year we had just under 10,000 people in attendance.

 

RAL: What demographic does your event attract? Children? Families? Couples?

DM: Our event attracts fans of all ages. We also provide tickets for underprivileged and disabled children.

 

RAL: What makes this event unique?

DN: At least one person performing in each group is a person with a disability.

DN: We have a robust schedule of events at local theaters as well as free and open outdoor stages for the public. Stop by our website for the complete schedule.

DN: Yes, we have celebrities included on the guest list, and they might be at any of the events.

DN: The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. It's a celebration of Jazz for a great cause.

DN: Yes, we are set up with the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

DN: Yes! Our attendees tend to branch out and spend money at a variety of local businesses.

 

RAL: Does the event support a particular cause in the community?

DN: The funds we raise from the event go to the Foundation Power Access Inc., which produces events for disability awareness.

DN: It’s an event like no other in which tolerance and understanding are forged through music with extraordinary performers.
