Princeton Block Party: A Small Town Celebration With Big Fun

Princeton's outdoor activities and proximity to Minnesota Lake Country make it the ideal location to launch a Minnesota getaway. Families will love visiting places like the Princeton Splash Park, and a variety of cafes and restaurants offering something for every pallet. Whether you’re catching a race at the Princeton Speedway or participating in one of the great community festivals, this town has something for you.

The Princeton Block Party has been a staple in the community since it started eight years ago, and it will take place July 28 in Downtown Princeton. Attendees will encounter a family friendly celebration that attracts people from all over the area. All ages will love the Hansen Power & Lighting Block Party Mini Golf Open, which features nine mini golf holes that are individually designed by local businesses. Kids can take part in the Pedal Tractor Pull, completing to see who can pull a weighted trailer the furthest with a pedal tractor. The Car Show has been an integral part of the event since the beginning and attendees will encounter a variety of beautiful vintage vehicles, hot rods, and more. We got the opportunity to interview Cyndy Miller, a representative for the event, to learn more about this great community party.

RAL: How long has the event been running?

CM: This is the eighth annual Princeton Block Party!

RAL: How many annual participants do you draw?

CM: It's hard to keep track of how many people come to our event. We don’t charge admission and encourage everyone to join us to find out something new about our community.

RAL: What demographic does your event attract? Children? Families? Couples?

CM: This is a family friendly event. Our vendors only offer activities that people of all ages can enjoy.

RAL: What makes this event unique?

CM: The event is by and for the community, but we don’t turn anyone away. Our vendors and sponsors are primarily local businesses.

RAL: Take me through the activities of a day at the event.

CM: Activities will include:

  • Kids Pedal Tractor Pull

  • Air Hockey Tournament

  • Bean Bag Tournament

  • 321Jump (Launchpad)

    Car Show

  • Live Band

  • Mini Golf Open

RAL: Will there be any guest appearances?

CM: Yes, we have local Radio Host, Shawn Sulivan (the Happy Trucker Show) and live music by Copperhead Creek. We also have a T-6 Thunder Fly Over by the American Legion, while the band plays "God Bless the USA".

RAL: What will attendees find for dining options?

CM: We have some great local options such as Princeton Meats, which will be grilling right outside their establishment! Plus, we have some great food trucks to choose from.

RAL: Tell me about the overall atmosphere.

CM: It features a street fair feel with live music, games, and activities for everyone. It's a fun, relaxing, and welcoming atmosphere!

RAL: What does this event mean to the community?

CM: The Princeton Block Party was first organized to attract people to the downtown area, during the bridge and road construction. Without the support of our local businesses, the event wouldn’t be as successful as it is.

RAL: Does the event support a particular cause in the community?

CM: A portion of the proceeds from the Car Show will go towards Faith’s Pantry and His Givers, which are local charities in the area.

RAL: Why should people come to your event?

CM: It's an inexpensive way to spend a Friday night. Families will have a blast checking out our beautiful community.
