Make for the Lush Surroundings of Oak Forest and Enjoy this Unique Community Bash

Found among the lush Forest Preserves of Cook County, Oak Forest is a destination rich in natural beauty, restaurants, and community events. From championship level golfing to bike riding on miles of forested trails, the city offers something for every outdoor lover. Those looking to golf should check out the George W. Dunne National Golf Course, which is considered one of the top public golf courses in America. The city is also a haven for food lovers. Hungry patrons will find a variety of cuisines available at popular local establishments including Jack Gibbons Gardens, Rockin’ Horse Saloon and Grill, and more.

Oak Fest has been the premier early summer event in the Oak Forest area for more than 30 years, and it will take place July 3-8 in downtown Oak Forest. Attendees will encounter a family-friendly celebration of the community, complete with live music, a car show, carnival, vendors, contests, and more. Each night of the event presents patrons with performances by unique regional bands such as Infinity, The Flex Group, and Night Train. Families in attendance will love the carnival area, which will include rides and carnival games for everyone from kids to adults. At the craft and vendor showcase, people can browse a variety of vendors selling some exceptional handmade crafts, art, and more. The ever-popular Car and Bike Show will return this year and feature an impressive collection of factory originals, restorations, customs, and brand new machines. Foodies looking for a fix are at the right event. Here attendees can purchase a variety of meals and refreshments from 10 popular vendors. Those looking for some friendly competition will love participating in the Bean Bag Tournament, which will award the top three teams with fun prizes. Make sure to stick around because the event features one of the best fireworks shows in the region. ResortsandLodges.com interviewed Deborah Houtz to learn more about this unique extravaganza.
