ResortsandLodges.com had a chance to sit down with Festival Director, Eric Hubbard, to get more details about this amazing food-filled event.

RAL: Tell us a little about the event.

EH: The L.A. Taco Festival will be held on August 18th from 12:00pm - 8:00pm at Grand Park. It is organized by our non-profit, Jovenes, Inc., dedicated to helping homeless youth in LA. Back in 2009, Jovenes had an ambitious idea to bring our city together and support our youth by celebrating a food we all love: Tacos! Somehow, there wasn’t a Taco Festival in Los Angeles, so we jumped on the opportunity to close a few streets at Mariachi Plaza, showcase some of East LA’s tastiest tacos, bring in some awesome bands, and create a unique experience where people can get full, have fun, and support a great cause. Now an annual event, the LA Taco Festival has moved to the heart of Downtown and attracts thousands of people from across L.A.

RAL: How many annual attendees do you draw?

EH: Every year the L.A. Taco Festival attracts 6,000 - 8,000 attendees.

RAL: What demographic does your event attract?

EH: The L.A. Taco Festival is a family friendly event and has a little something for everyone. Our attendees are of all ages and include families, young people, and couples.

RAL: What kind of activities are at the event?

EH: Beyond eating as many tacos as you possibly can, the L.A. Taco Festival also offers attendees the chance to engage with our sponsors in a variety of activities. This includes a cooking demonstration from Del Real Tacos, beverage tastings from our presenting sponsor the American Beverage Association and more. There will also be musical performances throughout the day!

RAL: What is the dining guests can expect?

EH: There will be 20 local taco vendors at this year’s event, serving a variety of taco treats. From classic favorites to unique flavors, the L.A. Taco Festival showcases some of the best tacos you’ll find in Los Angeles.

RAL: Why should people come to your event?

EH: The L.A. Taco Festival is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a fun day with friends and family while eating some of the best tacos in the city, all the while supporting local businesses and a cause that is important to Los Angeles.
