They call the service here intuitive care, and our intuition tells us that this is one heck of a Whistler Resort Hotel. This is one of those places that looks like a mountain lodge, feels like a mountain lodge and…well, except for all the luxury and consistent pampering, it is.

From the moment you park your car here - indoor valet, natch - you know you’re in for a treat. Especially if you bring your family; here, kids are known as “younger guests” and if they’re under 18 they stay free. The hotel concierge can arrange for Whistler family outings, which you’ll have no trouble finding in any season. There are also supervised crafts, games, swimming and complimentary products for child care on site. Of course, the adult in you will want some time, too. Which is why the Four Seasons Whistler Resort a state-of-the-art fitness centre and health club, plus a gorgeous outdoor pool and a world-class spa that offers treatments featuring all-natural products directly from the surrounding British Columbia landscapes. Five stars all the way!

Our No. 1 Whistler resort shows how the times have changed. From afar, you know this is a Whistler luxury resort hotel - it is completely grand in very way, echoing the mountain peaks behind it. You get the same feeling from the inside. And it turns out that this grandeur comes from the careful study and design of this area’s rich past.

It’s built in the Canadian “chateaux” style, which originated in the French Loire Valley in the 16th century. Back then, these pitched rooflines, dormers, gables and turrets were intended for both escape and for fortification. Today, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers more refined versions of both. That includes a heated pool with underwater music, a Vida Wellness Spa, three Plexipave tennis courts and an 18-hole mountain golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. That’s not to mention skiing - the Fairmont Chateau Whistler rests at the base of Blackcomb Mountain with ski-in/ski-out accommodations in one of the world’s finest skiing destinations. And a variety of equipment - from board games to croquet to toboggan rentals - ensures a carefree luxury Whistler vacation year round.

Highlights

For a truly first-class Whistler vacation, Fairmont offers the President's Club recognition program, the Fairmont Gold ''hotel within a hotel'' and a full Business Center along with comprehensive programs for conferences and weddings.

Fun facts

Beginning in 1990, Fairmont’s Canadian hotels pioneered the Green Partnership program. Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s sustainability efforts include recycling and organic waste diversion in the hotel’s kitchens, redistribution of household goods and food to those in need, purchasing green power and employing sustainable energy technology.

Related Onsite Offerings

A total of 550 rooms and suites at Fairmont Chateau Whistler include Mountain, Two-Bedroom and 800-square-foot Hospitality Suites that include in-room safes, windows that open and spectacular mountain view.

We can imagine the pressure was on during the construction of the Westin Resort and Spa in the late 1990s - it occupies the last remaining mountainside site in Whistler Village. Judging from the result, it delivers the magnificence suited for this locale, a first-rate Whistler resort in any season.

The Westin Resort and Spa Whistler consists of 419 suites, fine dining at Aubergine Grill, Avello Spa and Health Club, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs and a Eucalyptus steam room. But it’s the ambiance that really makes your stay complete. This is a perfectly-balanced combination of mountain lodge and luxury hotel - an exhilarating blend of wood, stone, plenty of glass and thoroughly modern décor. The guest rooms, for example, offer fireplaces - how could you visit Whistler without one? - along with flat panel TVs, wireless Internet and in-room movies and video games. So maybe we’ve changed our mind about all the pressure to build a fantastic resort here in this enviable location. In fact, we wound up asking ourselves: was all of this inspired by the surroundings? Or did it just naturally happen that way?

Related activities

The Westin Resort and Spa, Whistler is now offering pedi-cab tours featuring sightseeing, picnics at Lost Lake and dining at Aubergine Grill.

Highlights

The Avello Spa and Health Club offers more than 75 treatments, making one of the comprehensive spas in Canada. It features a pedicure lounge, imported Bouvier tubs and Vichy showers and a range of imported furnishings.
