With the undulating peaks and hills of the green Santa Rosa Mountains surrounding you at Indian Wells’ Miramonte Resort, you’ll feel safe, warm and utterly indulged. This Southern California getaway is known for its two championship golf courses and one-of-a-kind 12,000-sq.-ft. spa.

The Well Spa, voted one of the Top 10 Resort Spas in North America and the Caribbean by Conde Nast Traveler, is reason enough to stay at Miromonte in one of 215 guestrooms, suites and villas. Besides being set on 11 acres of fragrant citrus groves, rose gardens and olive trees, the Tuscan villa-like spa holds 13 treatments rooms, a co-ed courtyard and open-air showers. But wait – it gets better. Wile away the hours relaxing on signature river benches in a saltwater pool. Or try the bagno vino – a wine bath rich in vitamins and minerals. And if you feel like getting dirty, have a Pittura Festa (Painting Party); it involves decorating your partner with vividly-colored muds and clays. Oh yes, the golf! Home to the 2007-2009 LG Skins Game, Miramonte’s 18-hole golf courses at the Indian Wells Golf Resort are adjacent from the grounds. You can even have your swing evaluated at the Callaway Performance Centers!

Highlights

The onsite Grove Artisan Kitchen is known for its fresh seasonal California cuisine.

We bet you never thought you’d have the chance to stay in the very place a true musical American icon lived. At Parker Palm Springs, you do. As a botanical dream surrounded by palm trees and rising up from Southern California desert, this resort gives you a bit of fame and definitely conveys fortune!

With grand accommodations like the Lanai patio rooms with entrancing poolside terraces and the Junior Suites that open up to the original estate gardens, it’s hard to imagine that it could get any better. It does get a bit more interesting, however. Say, like the Gene Autry Residence. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa was once home to the American performer who gained fame as The Singing Cowboy on the radio, television and in movies for more than three decades beginning in the 1930s. That’s pretty cool and all, but we know you'll think the resort activities are, too! Ever play petanque? It’s a French game played on sandy lanes that involve balls smaller than those used for bocce games – its better in real life, we promise. And you can play it at Parker Palm Springs! Or croquet, tennis and golf are always options.

Population

Parker Palm Springs has two indoor pools – one for men and one for women – that are used for aqua aerobics and therapies.

Fun facts

The Parker Palm Springs was formerly known as the Gene Autry's Melody Ranch and Merv Griffin's Givenchy Resort and Spa.

Related Onsite Offerings

Norma’s and Mister Parker’s restaurants, The Lemonade Stand, room service and The Palm Springs Yacht Club spa.

So, we’re not going to lie. This place is quirky. But quirky in a really awesome Desert-meets-New-Age-Ranch kind of way. You aren’t going to find anywhere else in Palm Springs like Ace Hotel and Swim Club. And you won’t forget it, either.

Rising from the wreckage of an old 1960s Howard Johnson motel, the hotel’s five acres are surrounded by rolling green mountains and sand. You might even imagine a tumbleweed blowing by. What makes this place so unique is, well, everything. The chief designers wanted the hotel to have “elements of camping, communal living and nature.” And they delivered. The various guestrooms and suites’ walls are draped with white canvases and decorated with vintage National Geographic photos. There are even vinyl album collections in the rooms. And you’ll find all the amenities of a five-star hotel during your stay, too. The spa is unpretentious yet completely indulgent. Get a massage in a Mongolian yurt or let off some steam in the sauna. And the dining? Excellent. King’s Highway is stationed in an old roadside diner and features fresh, organic and local ingredients. And ice cold (and affordable!) beer is served in the Amigo Room. We know you’ll like this place!

Highlights

Get a Body Smoothie treatment at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club spa. It is a body wrap made from fresh fruits and vegetables in season.

Fun facts

The hotel is creating a 4000-sq.-ft. event center called The Commune that will include a circular pool and intimate amphitheater.

Related Onsite Offerings

Ace Hotel and Swim Club offers great packages including The Easy Rider, The Ranch Hand and The Wouldn’t it be Nice to Stay One More Night.

It’s pretty. This newly renovated Spanish Revival-style hotel was originally built in 1935 and now holds 25 deluxe guestrooms and suites. Stone entryways, terra cotta-colored buildings and red clay roof tiles make you feel completely welcome. You don’t need to have had a chart-topping hit music single or award-winning movie role to stay at the new Riviera Resort and Spa, but we can’t promise that your guestroom neighbor hasn’t. This super-posh luxury retreat in Palm Springs features a chic Thai-inspired spa and 24 acres of pure bliss.

Now, after a $70 million rejuvenation, this Coachella Valley hotspot is ready for more action. And action it will have with 406 glamorous guestrooms and suites decorated with images of Hollywood icons, four swanky restaurants and lounges including a Bikini Bar and 45,000sq. ft. of event space. The SpaTerre is luxury to say the least. There are 18 treatment rooms for exotic Balinese, Thai and Indonesian beauty rituals, along with soaking tubs and steam rooms. What combines a harried mobster ownership that led to a legendary underground speakeasy and brothel and Seabiscuit – the famous champion thoroughbred racehorse? Colony Palms Hotel. With a history like that, it’s better to see for yourself why this newly revamped Palm Springs resort is so popular.

You really should experience this boutique resort for yourself, but we’ll tell you about it, anyway. Once owned by mob enthusiast Al Wertheimer and Robert and Andrea Leeds Howard – Seabiscuit’s proprietor – The Colony has gone through a major renovation by Los Angeles designer Martyn Lawrence-Bullard to regain its Hollywood swagger. The 56 beautifully-appointed guestrooms and suites boast San Jacinto Mountain views, fine Italian linens and mini bars stocked with premium beer, wine, champagne and spirits. Once you’ve lounged in the oversized pool and whirlpool you can take it up a notch at the onsite Moroccan spa with a relaxing body scrub and massage treatment. And if you’re feeling extra greedy in the self indulgence department, add on one of many exclusive luxuries to your stay, like in-room chocolate covered strawberries or an imported gourmet cheese tray. A delicious entrée at Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar is the perfect way to round off your night.

Highlights

The Palme d'Or Residence is the hotel’s finest accommodation with two separate private garden terraces and a “comically large outdoor Jacuzzi.”

Fun facts

The Colony Palms Hotel was originally named The Colonial House.

And there’s no way you won’t feel happy surrounded by the vibrant yellow walls of Citron, Viceroy’s distinctive restaurant featuring modern Californian cuisine.
