You and your family can escape the crowds and reunite with the wilderness at the Flat Creek Ranch! Built in the 1920s by a countess and a cowboy, this secluded gem of a retreat has been elegantly appointed and lovingly restored throughout the years. For decades, this ranch has held a mystique garnered by its remoteness in the wild beauty, and the raucous history between its founders. Now, Flat Creek can be your secluded hotel of vacationing perfection.

Flat Creek Ranch has been ranked number one most popular hotel on Trip Advisor! A rigorous 15-mile jeep ride is required to even reach this isolated paradise, so when you decide to visit this ranch, make sure you won’t be making side trips back into town. Part of Flat Creek’s allure is for your family to get away from modern life and experience the country without interruption. No development will ever harm the natural beauty around Flat Creek because this area has been protected since the 1980s, and will continue to be protected in the future. Once you reach Flat Creek Ranch, you won’t have any reason to leave! Your family will come to hike, ride, fish, and explore, but you’ll stay for the gourmet cooking, relaxing and generous log cabins, plus a variety of conveniences like the sauna and friendly ranch hosts. This is the perfect place for your family to hike the mountains, fish a legendary trout stream, and return to your intimate, luxurious space for peace and quiet found only at an exquisite ranch like Flat Creek.

Highlights

In 2001, Flat Creek was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Fun facts

In 1981, Dick Cheney and his family are invited to Flat Creek Ranch, and Lynne Cheney is so fascinated by the ranch’s history that she publishes an article called “The Countess of Flat Creek.” While the rest of the family fished, Lynne wandered the ranch trying to understand how it came into being.

Related Onsite Offerings

What makes Flat Creek special is the full range of activities they provide to their limited number of guests. To keep the ambiance intimate, this ranch only allows a dozen or so guests at a time. Flat Creek Ranch also stands out among other dude ranches by only requiring a minimum of three days necessary to stay, and is located far away from the hustle and bustle of the closest cities.

Fun facts

The Jackson Hole climate (and temperatures around the Teton Mountain Lodge) varies greatly form season to season. Though it can sometimes rise above 90 degrees in the summer, the valley also has a reputation for arctic cold in the winter, with a temperature that rarely climbs above 10 degrees. However, the curious phenomenon called the Inversion Effect can sometimes drive residents to higher elevations on the coldest days to get warm! Don’t believe us? People talk about this as a gift from God because when an inversion hits, cold air is held down near the valley floor by high pressure, so the high mountain regions will be 10, 20, or more degrees warmer!

Teton Mountain Lodge features a 16,000 square foot Solitude Spa, which guests get complimentary access to, and is complete with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, five hot tubs, steam rooms, tranquility lounge, and fitness center.
