Some things in life just aren’t fair. For instance, the private estate turned first-class hotel in our No. 1 spot opted to set up shop in the already fabulous Turtle Creek neighborhood, rather than staging its exquisite façade in other, less fortunate Texas locales.

But we think you’ll be willing to overlook the slight when you lay eyes upon Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek’s splendor – we certainly were! Naturally, such a dramatic transformation includes a bit of retouching and a generous measure of reinvention. But the seclusion that first made Rosewood Mansion a prime piece of Texas real estate has been lovingly preserved. And the hotel’s sweeping staircases, polished parquet floors and intricate crystal chandeliers add a touch of Old Hollywood glamour to this already stunning Dallas luxury retreat. If its somewhat single-minded packages are any indication, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is perfectly suited to Texas romantic weekends and couples vacations. These packages promise everything from serenity to the quintessential date night, but one thing stays true throughout: each and every one is designed for the sole enjoyment of two. Candlelight and three-course dinners, champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries and signature Mansion massages for two – if that’s not enough to strike a spark on your Dallas luxury vacation, we’re not sure anything can!

Highlights

Rosewood Mansion’s luxurious guestrooms and suites are appointed with tasteful furnishings, custom bath products by Lady Primrose and plush terry bathrobes.

Fun facts

In addition to the understated glamour of its award-winning dining room, the Mansion Restaurant also offers al fresco dining in front of the terrace fireplace’s glowing hearth.

Related Onsite Offerings

Nearly a century has passed since fortune, fame and a penchant for life’s finer things culminated in the lavish accommodation that is our No. 2 spot. The hotel’s wealthy founder may have hailed from Missouri, but he certainly left his mark on this Lone Star State city with a hotel that bears his name.

The mastermind behind Hotel Adolphus was a slightly-flamboyant beer baron by the name of Adolphus Busch, who – fortunately for you – decided to honor his adopted home with this striking landmark hotel. Critics have called it the most beautiful building west of Venice, and Hotel Adolphus’ historic splendor has only been enhanced since its doors first opened to usher in the eager Dallas public. In fact, critics and locals alike are fond of saying that one of Europe’s most distinctive luxury hotels is actually housed in downtown Dallas! Inspired by the Gilded Age, baron Busch filled his luxury hotel with the finest earthly treasures, including glittering crystal chandeliers, Flemish tapestries and a Victorian Steinway previously owned by the Guggenheim clan. No expenses were spared when crafting this Dallas luxury hotel’s opulent guestrooms and suites, which have been graciously appointed with Queen Anne furnishings, luxurious designer fabrics and every imaginable modern amenity.

Highlights

Hotel Adolphus offers more than 24,000 sq. ft. of tastefully designed meeting space, complemented by essential business amenities such as high-speed Internet access and multimedia services.

Fun facts

We did our best to avoid cheesy references to cowboys, silver spurs and dude ranches, but our No. 3 spot’s tongue-in-cheek approach to Dallas luxury was too much to resist. We’ll get to the details in a New York – er, Texas - minute, but for now we’ll leave it at a heartfelt “Yeehaw!”

While other Dallas accommodations attempt to gloss over their Southern roots with high-end finishes and stylish furnishings, the Belmont Hotel wholeheartedly embraces its Texas heritage and blends it with the finest in modern luxury. Like the all-new SMOKE restaurant that pays tribute to authentic Southern flavors. From farm-fresh eggs prepared your way to cured meats and locally-sourced poultry, every dish at this home-style Dallas eatery is smoked to perfection and set before your eagerly awaiting taste buds. You’ll find Lather bath products in each Belmont Hotel room or suite, along with generous soaking tubs set against blue tile backsplashes in the hotel’s Garden Suites. Plush leather sofas paired with designer fabrics – and just a hint of Southwest flair – are housed inside the Belmont’s most historic suites. And inside BarBelmont’s neighborhood lounge, locals and tourists alike mingle with Belmontinis in hand.

Like Hotel Lumen in our No. 9 spot, the No. 4 selection on our Top 10 Dallas Luxury Hotels list boasts a place among the distinguished ranks of the internationally-acclaimed Kimpton Hotel chain. But while its sister property was more closely tied to Dallas’ historical scene, Hotel Palomar has its roots firmly planted in the 21st century.

Inside this Dallas luxury hotel’s guestrooms and suites, rich chocolate and golden hues are accented with bold patterns and animal prints for a style we’ve deemed cowboy chic. And inside Hotel Palomar’s opulent baths, luxurious zebra-print robes and L’Occitane bath products promise plenty of opportunities for pampering on your Dallas luxury vacation. Santa may spend hours making a list and checking it twice, but we found a Dallas luxury hotel that doesn’t care if you’ve been naughty, nice or a bit of both! Our No. 5 spot’s trademark “Z” may bring to mind that of a dashing hero of Spanish descent. Texas may be known for its Lone Star State status, but when it comes to taking the measures of Dallas luxury hotels, only a diamond will do. Naturally, all this talk of glitzy gems brings to mind the diamond-studded accommodation in our No. 6 spot, the Warwick Melrose Hotel.

We can talk about stars, diamonds and other earthly treasures until the Texas beef cows come home, but we’d rather get down to the specifics – like the Warwick Melrose’s elite designation as a four-diamond hotel. The hotel’s vast selection of Dallas guestrooms and suites, each lavishly appointed with polished marble floors and plush terrycloth robes. And its convenient location within walking or driving distance to the biggest names in Dallas attractions, including the House of Blues and John F. Kennedy Memorial. There’s even a Dallas landmark housed within its historic walls – the Landmark Restaurant, that is. This upscale Texas restaurant is more than a well-known venue among Dallas locals; it also boasts prestigious recognitions like the Wine Spectator award. And as for the cuisine – well, we’ll let this Dallas dining establishment’s fabulous menu do the talking. From savory starters like charred heirloom tomato bisque to melt-in-your-mouth main courses of grilled hangar steak and salmon paillard, the Warwick Melrose Hotel’s restaurant promises lasting impressions!

Our No. 7 pick may not come with a downtown Dallas address, but what the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas lacks in big city splendor it more than makes up for with peace, quiet and a generous dose of luxury in the rolling Texas hills.

Some would question the Four Seasons Resort and Club’s decision to forsake the bright lights and entertainment of downtown Dallas, but we’re strong defenders of this Texas luxury resort’s decision. Dallas is a wonder in its own right, but this Lone Star city seriously lacks the acreage required for a first-class golf course, sports club and spa – all features of the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas. An afternoon by the resort’s lush pool brings to mind one word: oasis. And a day spent on its Tournament Players Club Golf Course is nothing short of spectacular! For those whose idea of paradise includes the secluded comfort of a private spa suite, the Spa and Salon at Four Seasons is more than prepared to deliver with exfoliating Pecan Body Polishes and a Prickly Pear Cactus Body Glaze that will leave you anything but. And for those who think they’re above such pampered pleasures, the Cowboy Shiner Soak and Massage will quell those half-hearted protests. A delicious Texas-brewed Shiner Bock or old-fashioned root beer accompanies a hot tub soak, while the massage that follows melts away stress and inspire head-to-toe relaxation.

Highlights

Luxurious Payne Stewart and Byron Nelson Suites at the Four Seasons Dallas add a touch of class (and hopefully, skill) to your Dallas golf vacation.

Texas is home to its share of icons, but even its most famous pale in comparison to our No. 8 pick’s defining characteristic. While others are content to simply gaze out on Pegasus’ winged splendor, the Dallas Magnolia Hotel boasts the honor of playing host to this beloved landmark!

With one of Dallas’ most recognizable sights perched atop its roof, the Dallas Magnolia Hotel has some awfully big boots to fill. But if its reputation is any indication, this boutique hotel in the heart of Dallas’ urban hub is more than up to the challenge! You’ll find a feast of some sort awaits you at all hours, from a scrumptious breakfast buffet each morning to bedtime cookies and milk. Prepping for our Top 10 Dallas Luxury Hotels list began with a hands-on search for urban luxury, so naturally a downtown Dallas accommodation bearing a name like “Premier Lux Suite” caught our attention.

Hotel Lumen is one of the only Dallas accommodations to maintain its eco-friendly commitments without sacrificing a single creature comfort. Inside the hotel’s luxurious suites, stylish décor takes its earth-toned cues from Mother Nature. Rich cherry headboards, crisp white duvets and chocolate-hued throws blend for an inviting retreat, while organic coffees, linen reuse and even soy-based inks do their part to preserve our planet. And the aforementioned Premier Lux Suite goes above and beyond with a spacious mosaic-tiled soaking tub and balcony views of the Park Cities neighborhood scenery! We were so taken with Hotel Lumen, we’ll even go so far as to call it a veritable light in the darkness of ordinary Texas vacations. Set in the picturesque Park Cities neighborhood and overlooking Southern Methodist University’s lush green campus, this spectacular boutique hotel offers equal measures of culture and substance on your Dallas luxury vacation. Walk the hallowed grounds of this acclaimed institution, including one of the world’s largest collections of Spanish art in the university’s Meadows Museum.

Our No. 10 selection seamlessly blends the history of a bygone era, modern style and magnificent proportions – all within the stately confines of a boutique hotel in the heart of the Historic West End. We’d liken Hotel Lawrence to the definition of good taste on your Dallas luxury vacation!

Modern baths appointed with colorful tiles, frosted glass pedestal sinks and oversized showerheads add a touch of whimsy to this otherwise dignified Dallas hotel. While we fully appreciated the upscale comforts of Hotel Lawrence’s guestrooms and suites, we’ll also admit to admiring a hotel that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This downtown Dallas accommodation also offers something else we can appreciate – mainly, the freshly-baked cookies and milk offered in its lobby each evening. In true Southern style, Hotel Lawrence offers a welcome package for those four-legged companions that can’t bear to be left at home! Speaking of leaving, we had a hard time doing just that once we sat down at Hotel Lawrence’s downtown eatery. They call it the Founders Grill, but we’re not sure our nation’s forefathers ever had the chance to sample such scrumptious Southern fare! From hearty Texas burgers stacked with hickory smoked bacon and smothered in blue cheese to Angus steak prepared just the way you like it, your taste buds will thank you.

Hotel Lawrence’s fully equipped business center and fitness room keep you in top form when away from the office or gym.
