Welcome to Block Island

Stories of a burning ghost ship haunting the shores and hidden treasure left by notorious pirate Captain Kidd may be local myth, but the beauty and adventure of Block Island, Rhode Island sure isn’t! Named one of the world’s “last great places” by The Nature Conservancy, 40 percent of the island is set aside purely for conservation. The rest of the island, however, can be enjoyed by climbing down the steps of Mohegan Bluffs, biking or hiking the lush Greenway Trails or snapping pictures of the magnificently weathered Block Island North and Southeast Lighthouses. Make a point to visit during Block Island Race week to watch over 100 sailboats vie for the contest’s numerous trophies. Just make sure to watch out for that ghost ship on the horizon!
