Make a Splash on The Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge’s New Water Slides

When you think of a Bavarian lodge, you likely imagine an escape into Old World Europe, complete with cobblestone sidewalks, ornate glockenspiels, authentic German cuisine, and frothy mugs of beer. One thing that probably doesn’t cross your mind is water slides.

Well, that’s about to change at The Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge, a Michigan retreat that combines the German and United States cultures to create the ultimate family vacation. Their addition of two four-story water slides ensures that you’ll make a splash in the Midwest this summer.

There’s no better way to spend the summer than in the indoor Family Fun Center, which features the two mammoth slides. A three million dollar renovation to the center is the Lodge’s way of giving back to the families that have made them so successful for more than a quarter of a century.

“The latest phase is really a ‘thank you’ to our guests for allowing us to serve them for 26 years,” Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge President and founder Judy Zehnder-Keller said. “The Family Fun Center celebrates the most important aspect of Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge: family. Our family has been serving guests for four generations and we’re dedicated to providing a family entertainment experience second to none.”

The entertainment is almost endless on the high-speed duo of the Tower Twister Body Slide and the Bavarian Blast Tube Slide. Climb the 75-foot stairwell to the top, take a deep breath, and launch yourself down these thrilling slides, which twist and turn both inside and outside.

Celebrating various cultures, the tube slide depicts the blue and white of the Bavarian flag, the red and white body slide showcases the Franconian region, and the combination of the two is the proud red, white, and blue of the United States.

The Lodge serves up thrills for both kids and adults! If you’d prefer another type of adventure, take a dip in one of the three whirlpools, make a splash in any of the four swimming pools, have a blast in the arcade, or take aim at the 18-hole miniature golf course.

“The Lodge is unique in that it offers entertainment for all ages and abilities,” Zehnder-Keller said. “Some destinations are just for kids or young adults or seniors. Our facility provides a wide variety of activities that appeal to every interest, and that can be enjoyed together as a family.”
