Family-Friendly Oceanfront Getaways on Long Beach Peninsula

The breathtaking Long Beach Peninsula, located in the southwest corner of Washington, is a West Coast hidden gem on the coast of the Pacific Ocean and home to Oceanfront Getaways. Long Beach Peninsula has 28 miles of magnificent, sandy beaches, which are always just a short walk away from Oceanfront’s nine luxurious beach houses.

For the eighth consecutive year, Oceanfront Getaways has been awarded a 5-STAR Rating for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction from Talk of the Town News, Celebration Media and Customer Care News magazine, thanks to the hard work and dedication by owner Sue Hermanns, a local who started the business with just one property in 1997. Hermanns is always available to guests, and she’s especially knowledgeable about area, so don’t be afraid to ask about the best spots for a hike or a great lookout!

"We have been coming to the peninsula since 1974 and to this beach house (Garden Shores) since 2006,” said Steph and Gary Frye. “We love how homey and welcoming the house is and the quiet is priceless. We love this getaway with the cleanliness every time, comfy chairs and awesome sleigh bed. See you next year!"

Each beach house is fully furnished and equipped with various amenities, including fireplaces, outdoor grills, balconies and decks, comfy furniture, television, full kitchens, granite countertops, and spectacular views. Some of these cozy beach homes also have jetted tubs, and all but one have laundry facilities. Perfect for any family size, Oceanfront’s beach houses range from 2-5 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 10 people! Most of the beach houses are also pet-friendly, so don’t be afraid to bring your favorite furry friend because dogs love this beach!

Long Beach Peninsula is a family-focused haven for those looking to escape the mundanity and grind of city life. Instead of staring at a television or smartphone, look out onto the gorgeous Washington shoreline or walk the beach in search of clams. However, the peninsula is so much more than a 28-mile beach paradise. The area offers an abundance of activities for kids of all ages, including a go-kart track and bumper cars, biking and moped rentals, horseback rides on the beach, laser tag, ice cream shops, carnival rides, fishing, and much, much more.

Choose from a variety of local, affordable fishing charters and hit the open ocean with the whole family in hopes of catching your dinner or perhaps a trophy to mount on the wall. Common fish in the area are salmon, sturgeon, halibut, and albacore tuna, but you can also go crabbing or clamming! If the ocean waves are too much, take a charter up the largest river in the Pacific Northwest: the Columbia River. The Columbia is home to salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, trout, and shad.

One of the best facets of Long Beach Peninsula is the fine dining and local cuisine. Enjoy locally caught seafood, which is delivered fresh off the boats to one of the local “dine at the source” restaurants, such as award-winning The Depot Restaurant. Or stay in for the night and cook what you caught fishing in your full kitchen.

"This is our fifth year coming to this beach house (Sea Pines). We worked really hard to get all of the fun stuff in this year: go karts, laser tag, bumper cars, flying kites, walking the jetty, playing ping pong and bocce ball, beach fires at night and horseback riding,” said DJ Buhmann. “Our best day was our last, spending almost all day down at the beach--getting quite sunburned. Can't wait for next year. Great time as always!"

Long Beach is home to the World Kite Museum and the Washington State International Kite Festival, which is truly a spectacle to behold. Hundreds of kites, of all colors and sizes, are air born on the beach during the festival. The festival is held annually on the third full week of August.

Just a short walk from your beach house is the exact location where Lewis and Clark ended their historic journey to the Pacific Ocean. Also in the area are two historic lighthouses: Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and North Head Lighthouse. Both lighthouses are full of history and offer sweeping views of the expansive Pacific Ocean. Don’t forget to do some whale watching or beachcombing while you’re in the area!

Swing the clubs at one of the local golf courses. Peninsula Golf Course and Surfside Golf Course are two unpretentious 9-hole courses with a lot of country charm, low prices, and quality greens and fairways. There are also two miniature golf courses in the area as well.

Oceanfront Getaways offers a family-friendly atmosphere, year round, thanks to countless area adventures and fun. What sets them apart from the competition is location, luxury and a family-focused staff who will put your needs and desires first! Last but not least, Oceanfront Getaways are known for having the cleanest homes on the Long Beach vacation rental market. So, book your dream vacation with Oceanfront Getaways today!
