In late September the forest is bursting with beautiful reds, golds, yellows, and greens as we reach the peak of Indian Summer. The days are a bit cooler and the bugs almost non-existent, making it the perfect season for trekking in the woods.
For two days Gunflint's naturalists will guide you on a variety of hikes out into the forest to their favorite color spots. Some of these hikes will come out on scenic overlooks, while others will go through thick cedar swamps or up on the aspen highlands.
The staff will mix it up — some on the short and easy side, one or two a bit longer. Packed lunches will be provided. You'll not want to forget your camera this weekend! Besides the autumn hues you may be fortunate enough to spot a local moose, fox or bear too.
In between your hikes, you're welcome to take a canoe out onto the lake for a different view. Throw in a line or just enjoy a relaxing paddle.
After your dinner in the Lodge (included in your stay), you can return to your beautiful cabin or lakehome to enjoy the cozy fireplace. The full kitchen will make it easy for you to prepare your breakfasts any way you like them.
