Salute to America: A Missouri 4th of July Extravaganza

Named after America’s third president (Thomas Jefferson), Jefferson City is a destination that features stunning architecture, historical landmarks, and events for the entire family. The city’s proximity to the Missouri River gives visitors the chance to relax on miles of beautiful beachfront and partake in ample water sports. Make it a point to visit the Missouri Capitol building, which contains the Missouri State Museum and Lewis and Clark Monument on its grounds.

Salute to America has been one of the top 4th of July celebrations in Missouri since it began nearly two decades ago. It will take place July 1st, 3rd, and 4th at multiple locations in the Downtown area, and is the largest 4th of July celebration in the state, attracting more than 60,000 people annually. Attendees will encounter a spectrum of live entertainment options including performances by Wynonna & the Big Noise and the Gin Blossoms. The Salute to America Parade will make its way through the downtown area featuring colorful floats, vibrant costumes, and live entertainment. Families should make sure to spend time at Missouri American Water Carnival Land which features games and activities for all ages. The “Red, White, and Boom” fireworks show is the largest fireworks show in Missouri, and provides a fitting end to this unique celebration of American Freedom. We got the opportunity to interview Rachel Hays, PR Coordinator for the event, to learn more about this unique 4th of July experience.
