RAL: Tell me a little bit about the event.

JC: Brew with a View Brewfest offers a great combination of breathtaking views and delicious microbrews. This year will be the second for the brewfest and we are expecting between 350 and 450 people attending this year. When it come to the demographics of our crowd, everyone is over 21 and we typically see groups of friends, couples, and singles.

We host the event at Steele Hill Resorts which is located on a scenic mountain top. The resort overlooks Lake Winnisquam, Lake Winnipesaukee, and the Belknap Mountain Range. The festivities are held under our large event tent and we’ll have lawn games, food, picnic tables, and facilities for all to enjoy. This year's event also includes a live concert from a regionally popular band, Unbroken Chain, to close out the festivities.

RAL: What makes this event unique?

JC: The natural setting of the resort is truly spectacular and unique. Participants drive up to our hilltop resort and have a bird's-eye view over one of the most beautiful areas in New Hampshire (the Lakes Region). The views, coupled with our excellent selection of breweries, make our event a standout and must-see festival for anyone who enjoys beer tasting.

RAL: Take me through a day at the event.

JC: Activities include a wide range of samplings from over 35 breweries, as well as some wine vendors. A few local tobacco shops will also be on hand selling specialty cigars. Doors open at 4:00 pm and the actual beer tasting is available from 4-7:00 pm. Our restaurant staff provides a selection of freshly grilled Brewfest specialties during the event (burgers, brats and pretzels) to satiate attendee appetites. We are also going to offer a lawn games area, that will include lawn game staples like cornhole for guests to enjoy. At the end of the event we are hosting a free live concert directly adjacent to the beer tent. The music lasts from 6-8:00 pm and beers will also be sold during the concert.

This year’s Brewfest marks a reunion concert by Unbroken Chain, a band that has been regionally popular throughout New England for decades (and has a great following).

The event is an open-air festival with brewer stations set up under the resorts large event tent which looks out over some of the best views of lakes and mountains in the state.

RAL: What can an attendee expect to find for lodging at the resort?

JC: People attending the event are welcome to rent a room at the resort. This marks the high-season and the rooms are in very high demand, so we recommend booking early. Steele Hill Resort offers some of the most spacious, well-appointed rooms in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. From large two-bedroom units overlooking Lake Winnisquam and Lake Winnipesaukee, to cozy, freshly renovated rooms in the original inn building with king sized beds, flat-screen TVs and kitchens, we have something for everyone. Guest lodging is provided in three separate structures: Steele Hill East, Steele Hill West, and Steele Hill South. All guests are free to use all facilities at the resort.

RAL: What does the event mean to the community?

JC: Last year’s event was a great boost for the surrounding towns. There was a tremendous amount of local attendance and we received universally rave reviews from all the area residents who attended. It is one of the few beer festivals on the circuit that truly highlights the beauty of the Lakes Region.

RAL: Does this drive business to your local economy?

JC: Absolutely, many of the breweries are local the central New Hampshire, and the remaining balance fill in from across New England. We also host a variety of other tables that allow local businesses (like the cigar shop) to get the word out on their products.

RAL: Why should people come to your event?

JC: “A Brew with a View” is one of the most memorable beer fests in New England. Attendees will enjoy a winning combination of spectacular views and delicious beers from a large variety of brewers. Last year’s event was a huge success and the event is quickly becoming one the top specialty beer festivals in the region.
