To reach Steamboat Springs by air, the closest airports that service all major airlines are Denver International and Hayden/Yampa Valley Regional Airport. From these airports, GO Alpine provides airport shuttles and taxi services. Steamboat Springs Transit is a free shuttle that stops at ski mountains, some condos and downtown Steamboat Springs. Private aircraft can land at the Steamboat Springs Airport. Interstates 70 and 25 are the major roads in and out of Colorado, but Steamboat Springs is only accessible by state highways like 40.
Getting Around
Buses run in Steamboat Springs about every 20 minutes and the drivers are typically a good source of general information about the area and what to see and do. The scenic towns, and especially the country roads of Oak Creek, are ideal for bike riding. Otherwise, Steamboat Springs itself is pedestrian-friendly. To tour the region, it’s easiest to get from Steamboat Springs, Walden and Oak Creek by car.
