Although the Central Coast is quickly becoming known as an area to sip wine, converse and relax, it also has its fair share of “play” time activities. A popular pastime entails pedaling your way down scenic Highway 1 – the most gorgeous route in Cali! For a more leisurely route, bike north to south with the prevailing winds. This is your chance for a major dose of beauty along with a healthy dose of exercise.

The Central Coast offers a dining experience as eclectic and diverse as your surroundings. As a coastal locale it’s no wonder that the seafood is a force to be reckoned with, but don’t limit yourself to one style of cuisine! Steakhouses also abound, and it’s also worth checking into more unique fare – ThaiWaaian for one, which is a combo of Thai and Hawaiian. Eat your heart out Cali style!

How to Get Here

To get to the Central Coast area you will undoubtedly utilize US Highway 101 or the two-land Highway 1. Highway 101 is a much quicker way to get to the area you seek, but the much slower Highway 1 is one of the most beautiful drives around so you won’t mind the delay. Major airports include Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, Santa Maria Public Airport and San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

Getting Around

The best way to see the sights and get from place to place is by using your own vehicle or a rental car. Stunning sights are spread far and wide across this distinctive and diverse coastal area, so it’s best to have access to your own transportation. However, if you’re looking for a challenge, bring your bike and pedal your way down the stunningly beautiful Highway 101.
