Sometimes family vacations are best when they are simple and soothing. Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort has just that for you and your family. Immerse yourself in the serene hot springs, most likely discovered by native Indians that came to Canada’s Kootenay Lake for the late summer Kokanee Salmon run.

Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort has harnessed this wonderful water that flows in at 117 degrees F. and enters the cave at 114 degrees. A natural steam bath is created in the horseshoe-shaped cave when mineral water falls from the roof. The result is warm, waist-deep water, among stalagmites and stalactites that nature has created as decoration for your hot springs experience. If you prefer to stay above ground, relax in the pool that has an average temperature of 96 degrees F. And if for some reason lounging in warm water doesn’t appeal to you, there’s always the stream-fed cold plunge – not for the faint of heart! Explore the area activities, such as golfing, skiing and fishing. But don’t forget to bring your appetite back to Ainsworth Hot Springs Dining Room for homemade food and spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the Purcell Mountains.

Dates and Prices

Hot Springs public hours are from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.365 days per year. Adults are $9; seniors and students are $8; children 3 - 12 are $7. Day passes are also available.

Fun facts

Ainsworth Hot Springs was known as Hot Springs Camp in the late 1800s and was much sought-after by miners. In the 1930s, the springs were open 24 hours a day at a cost of 10 cents per swim.
