Great DealsThe Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island - Kayak |
The architectural details and charming courtyard of this island paradise honor Catalina Island’s rich history, while handcrafted hardwoods and 350-thread-count sheets in its guest rooms are the epitome of modern luxury. Relive California history – and a touch of the contemporary – at the Avalon Hotel.
We should have known better than to expect anything less from the sister property of our No. 3 spot, the Aurora Hotel and Spa. And this is Catalina, the Island of Romance. But even we were impressed - and a little inspired - by the breathtaking 360-degree views of Avalon Harbor from the rooftop deck. What could be better than these views? The exciting island adventures nearby! Explore hundreds of marine species, including sea lions and bat rays at Casino Dive Park, Southern California’s most popular SCUBA dive site.
Sailboats, palm trees and white-washed buildings with red tile roofs surround the half-moon-shaped harbor – and you can see them all through sliding doors in your spacious room. Inside, sculptures and stained glass art pieces by local artists echo the picturesque scenery, while exotic tropical plants, intimate seating areas and a fountain reminiscent of a Mexican villa await you in the Avalon’s secluded courtyard.
