You don’t need a perfect swing or a low score to appreciate a round of golf at the Birdwood golf course at the Boar’s Head Inn. Virginia’s rich history shines onto the course and accompanies the unforgettable scenery. You’re sure to find this course challenging, majestic and loads of fun.
Before there were manicured greens, sand traps and tee boxes there were roaming cattle, fluffy sheep and prize-winning show horses. The 500 acres that is now Birdwood used to be the famous farmland that produced Virginia Hereford cattle. The University of Virginia acquired the land in 1974 and hired architect Lindsay Ervin to transform it into a championship golf course. Thanks to Ervin you can swing, chip and putt your way around this once-legendary farmland.
The remarkable Birdwood golf course isn’t the only activity at the Boar’s Head Inn – not even close. You’ll also get to experience scenic hiking trails, paved bike paths, full-service spas and a remarkable fitness center. To top off your vacation you can dine at four world-class restaurants and relax in your luxurious suite.
