You haven’t sufficiently rocked out in Southern Oregon until you’ve been to Britt Festivals. This three-venue non-profit organization is nearing its 50th anniversary and continues to produce the ultimate musical concerts this side of the Rockies.
Imagine sprawling out on the rolling hillside facing the Britt Pavilion, the organization’s main outdoors venue, while the voices of eager concert-goers explode in joyful cheers and the awaited musicians take the stage. Sounds pretty exhilarating, doesn’t it? For decades, people have been attending the 2,200-seat pavilion, as well as the Lithia Motors Amphitheater and Southern Oregon University Recital Hall to witness the likes of blues legend B.B. King, American country and folk music icon John Denver and idyllic punk rocker Billy Idol. But that’s not all. Britt’s own three-week Classical Festival showcases international orchestras and guests artists like Pinchas Zukerman and Midori. All genres can be heard at Britt’s, including jazz, folk, bluegrass, pop and world music.
Britt’s main venue is located on the Jacksonville estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt. A revered Oregon artist, Britt chronicled 50 years of life and growth in this region.
