We’ve always dreamt of flying weightlessly through the air at hundreds of miles an hour. Since that’s highly unlikely, we found the next best thing – explore one of the world’s largest aviation museums, the Pima Air and Space Museum! Be a pilot for a day on your unique historical Tucson vacation!
Five hangars are filled with over 275 aircraft and spacecraft, including pieces from military, commercial and civil aviation collections. You can climb into the cockpit and work the flight controls, turn on runway lights, listen to radio transmissions and more! Many of these aircraft were used in World War II, so their history dates back nearly 100 years.
There are also many things to see outside the hangars. Check out the Space Gallery – a training version of the Apollo space capsule gives insight into the life of an astronaut. See a moon rock, tour genuine space craft and learn more about the Phoenix Mars mission at an interactive exhibit. Your hands-on adventure will be both educational and fun at this historical Tucson attraction.
