Viernes Culturales – or Cultural Fridays – is a completely FREE cultural event held on the last Friday of every month – right in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana! Art, culture and music meet for one of the most interesting and eye-opening experiences around – and it’s pretty easy on the wallet!
On the last Friday of every month you can feel the heat of Havana without all the border patrol trouble. That’s because Viernes Culturales brings together an exciting lineup of Latino events for everyone in Miami to be a part of, absolutely free! Enjoy the sounds of live music on an outdoor stage. Then meander down Calle Ocho for open-air art exhibits. Or pop into one of the 13 galleries of Cuban and Latino artists within the festival’s space!
Participating restaurants open their doors for food tastings – the festival is really a feast for all the senses. And check out what films, exhibitions or programs are happening at the Tower Theatre! If you’ve never been to Little Havana, this is a great way to become acquainted and for a little more insight, get in on one of the free walking tours that take place during the festival!

Fun facts: Cultural Fridays attracts approximately 70,000 visitors and tourists a year and is expected to grow in the next few years because of its tremendous popularity and success.
Highlights: n the early 1960's, adverse political events in Cuba forced large numbers of refugees to flee to Miami. The area of SW Eighth Street – “Calle Ocho” – became a place of new beginnings. For many Cuban families, movies at the Tower Theater were an introduction to American culture through film and represented a place of entertainment. Soon the Tower Theater altered its programming to include English language movies with Spanish sub-titles, and eventually Spanish language movies.
