One of Palm County’s most important city centers is Boca Raton, it’s a place where history runs deep - and very few things come cheap. However we’ve found one way to get to know the city a little better and best of all, it’s absolutely free! Welcome to the Boca Raton Historical Society.
The Historical Society is not only an important link in the preservation of landmarks like the Town Hall and the F.E.C. Railway Station, but it’s also a destination for education and a resource for thought-provoking historical tours! Some of the sites that are available for guided touring include the train museum and a trolley tour throughout town, though these charge a small fee. But plan a self-guided tour of the original Town Hall and you won’t pay a penny!
Town Hall hosts exhibitions, like “Boomtime Boca: Boca Raton in the 1920s,” running October 22 – December 23, 2008. And the permanent collection is always a treat to peruse. Discover the history of Pearl City, Boca’s pioneering African American community, and of influencers like Addison Mizner who played a key role in Boca’s development. And be sure to scan the calendar for the next exciting annual event going on!
