Miami Beach is famous for many things, and one of the easiest of them to spot is its world-famous Art Deco-style architecture. You could wander the streets and enjoy what you find, but if you don’t want to miss a thing, opt for a guided or self-guided tour!
The Miami Design Preservation League offers a variety of tours through the Art Deco District. The National Register Art Deco District include the local areas Espanola Way, Washington Ave, Museum and Flamingo Park, but there are a number of local districts as well. Choose one of the league’s tours and you’ll discover so much more than meets the eye.
Walking tours are available every day except Mondays, or book one of their special occasion or private tours. If you’d rather move at your own pace, choose the iPod-based self-guided tour, it’s available in English, Spanish, French and German. And to take the freedom up a notch, self-guided cell phone tours are also offered. You simply listen in on your phone, any time you want up to 24 hours after you begin. You don’t have to stop by the league office – just dial and go!
