Nay Aug Park, Scranton’s largest, is a parcel of peace in the city with walking trails, rides and playground. One of its highlights is the gorge that runs through it - a spectacular, if a little unnerving, sight, especially when you consider that people have actually fallen into it.
That’s not too likely anymore. The David Wenzel Tree House is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, overlooking the gorge but offering a safe and very alluring presence to an ordinary park stroll. Built by Forever Young, Inc. through a combination of public and private funding, the tree house is wheelchair-accessible and offers a view of the gorge and the surrounding area that hasn’t been available since the park was established in 1896.
Nay Aug Park also features a new playground, a museum and a pedestrian footbridge, along with two Olympic-sized pools and a waterslide. If bridges are more your style when it comes to heights, the breathtaking new Paul Kanjorsky Bridge will get you all the way across in grand fashion.
