As mascots, in movies and on television shows, alligators have built quite a reputation for themselves. Now it’s time to determine for yourself what makes these Florida natives so captivating – or frightening? And the St. Augustine Alligator Farm also happens to be the world’s oldest one!
The farm is even registered on the National Register of Historic Places, since it began back in the 1800s after two men simply began collecting alligators! Before the days of Disney or Seaworld, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm was the Florida attraction to visit. The farm boasts a rich history full of twists and turns that you can learn all about along with the actual animals.
A variety of exhibits and shows take place each day to offer tons of information – and tons of entertainment! And it’s not just alligators, you’ll learn about Florida’s forest animals, rainforest inhabitants and more, with something for every age. Of course, the alligators are the main attraction, so be sure to stick around for at least one alligator feeding – they take place daily at noon and 3:00!
