If you’re a military hardware geek, this is the place for you - the National Naval Aviation Museum is the largest naval aviation museum in the world. Besides what you’d expect - 150 beautifully restored historic aircraft - there’s an IMAX® theater and a 15-passenger Motion-Based Flight Simulator.
The 300,000-square-foot museum rests on 37 acres in Pensacola, and every inch of it is amazing. A seven-story glass and steel atrium showcases four of the A-4 Skyhawks - better known as the famous Blue Angels - in a diving diamond formation. Aboard the USS Cabot - or at least a full-size replica of the island and flight deck - you can take a “test flight” in one of the cockpit trainers, or defend the ship from the anti-aircraft gun battery. You’ll also see memorabilia including flight logs, equipment and clothing from battles and eras past.
Meals are available at authentic Cubi Bar Café, among 1,000 squadron and unit plaques reassembled from the historic Officers' Club at Cubi Point in the Philippines. Guided and bus tours of the facility are available as well.
