Though this is a state park, it centers around a legendary private property from the 1800s. The architecture and beautiful flora around this gorgeous mansion are stunning enough you’ll find the second-largest collection of Louis XVI furniture in the U.S.
Eden State Gardens State Park is located in historic Point Washington on the shore of Tucker Bayou. Its renovated two-story mansion, once owned by a wealthy timber family, features a wraparound porch, white columns and turn-of-the-century antiques. The home is a showplace for the Wesley family’s heirlooms. Its grounds are an equally impressive showcase of moss-draped live oaks - some more than 600 years old - and gardens full of camellias and azaleas.
There’s also a rose garden here that should not be missed, and a the picnic area is onsite. Eden State Gardens is also home to ArtsQuest, an award-winning fine arts festival held each May. Guided tours are available.
