Kayaking and live music are an odd combination, but they happen a lot in Estes Park. Especially now that the kayaking run is being expanded. You can rent a boat almost anywhere, for class II or III rapids, but this new run goes right through town.
Rocky Mountain Adventures, for example, gives kayaking classes on lakes and rafting trips on class II and III rapids on the Upper Colorado River. But they’ll also help you through the eddies and pools on the new run, no matter your skill level. The water here is fairly easy moving but it’s at least class I, so it is recommended you go with an experienced kayaker - there are many situated locally. The course extends from the west side of Performance Park to the Spruce Street Bridge. When the next phase is complete it will continue east, winding into downtown.
As it is you can out after the run, get settled, dry off, and dig around for those snacks you left somewhere in the front hold of the kayak. If you schedule your trip well, you can take out right at the Performance Park Pavilion for a fabulous outdoor show.
