At first glance, Orange County may not scream “Holiday Destination”, but their delightful twists on the season will charm even the biggest skeptic. Update your routine with sun, sand… and a giant dazzling orange? Trust us - you have to see these fresh and unexpected holiday traditions to believe them.
What Orange County lacks in snowfall they make up for big-time in Christmas lights. Be sure to visit between December 12th and 14th to join over one million spectators at the Christmas Boat Parade for its 99th anniversary. Yachts, boats, even kayaks and canoes follow a 14 mile circuit around Newport Harbor each night. Also, get a glimpse of the Ring of Lights - homes along the path decked out in some unbelievable lighting and decorations.
For a kid-friendly New Year, head to Disneyland in Anaheim. It’s hard to not feel festive at this classic destination, and if the little ones can stay awake, send 2007 out with a bang during the “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show at midnight. If you crave more of a party, Orange County New Year’s Eve is it. Catch excellent live music, like Third Eye Blind, Berlin, and more on three stages, explore several themed party zones, or sample some of Southern California’s best wines and finest cuisine. Don’t miss the OrangeDrop, when a sparkling lit orange descends 100 feet from the air, welcoming 2008.
