Our FOUR ROOM and THREE COTTAGE INN is situated on a peaceful FRUIT FARM on 11 ACRES on Hamakua Coast. We are located North of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Mahana House is a quiet and relaxing place to soak up the expansive ocean views and is IDEALLY LOCATED to explore the many lush gardens and spectacular waterfalls nearby as well as Hilo town and HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK. There are bananas, avocados, lychee and passionfruit available for guests to enjoy in season.

Each of our four NEWLY BUILT guest suites and cottages has a KING SIZE BED and PRIVATE LANAI with FULL OCEAN VIEW. All rooms have an ENSUITE bathroom with fully tiled walk-in shower and granite countertop. Rooms have ceiling fans and benefit from the tradewinds off the ocean during the day and cool air from Mauna Kea at night. Guest suites also have complimentary WIFI, TV, kitchen area with fridge, microwave, and coffee making facilities and private entrance. Guests have access to the great room of the main house which has a full kitchen stocked with the basics and usually fresh fruit and fresh local eggs, laundry room, and lounge areas.  Our large lanais are the perfect place to BBQ and enjoy dinner in the evening or coffee with sunrise in the morning.

Some day trip ideas include exploring waterfalls and gardens nearby, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and MAUNA KEA summit and stargazing.  There is virtually no limit to the activities and adventures available to you on the Big Island. We sometimes have a minimum night stay for guest reservations, however contact us if any questions. Discounts are available for longer stays. We do not offer daily housekeeping.

There is often more availability than may appear on our reservation calendars.  Please feel free to call or email us directly with any questions.

The OCEAN is a short drive down the road to a former sugar cane plantation, now Hakalau Park. HAWAII TROPICAL BOTANICAL GARDEN and AKAKA FALLS are within a few easy miles of the farm. After a day of sight seeing, return to the beautiful ocean view, warm breezes and peaceful atmosphere of our farm.

ROOMS

OUR ROOMS

Suites are laid out very much like a hotel room with closet, kitchen area, bathroom, bedroom and living space. The most impressive feature is the ocean view from the private lanai at the front of each room. All suites have king size Sleep Number beds with comfortable memory foam toppers. Each side of the bed is adjustable for firmness. Light blocking curtains provide shade from the bright sunrise should you prefer to sleep in.

About Us

Randy and Alison moved to the Big Island from Ontario, Canada in 2013.

After visiting for the first time in 2008, the Big Island became a bit of an obsession and on subsequent trips we felt sure our most favorite area was the Hamakua Coast. We were able to sell our hotel and restaurant businesses in our hometown of Stratford and make the dream of Mahana House a reality.

It is our most sincere wish to provide our guests with a quiet, comfortable and relaxing accommodation. The incredible natural beauty and climate of

Hawaii is something we appreciate every day and it is a privilege to share this wonderful place with our guests.

Cats of Mahana House

Our visitors are always intrigued by our friendly felines that live Mahana House. They are tame & love people.
