Ecotourism
Trapper Creek and its sister properties, Flitner Ranch and The Hideout, practice rotating grazing to maintain the area’s rich diversity of plant and wildlife; it keep livestock under low stress and away from the pristine Trapper Creek. Several projects and tests are also underway, such as using goats for weed control.
Historical
Trapper Creek Lodge rests where the first settlers arrived in the 1880s. Its original name was the 16-1, serving the original “dudes” from the East and luminaries like Ernest Hemingway and Teddy Roosevelt. You can still see the ruins of the original lodge today, from your beautiful Trapper Creek cottage or guest house.
Hunting
Hunting through Powderhorn Outfitters is carefully managed, with an emphasis on education; low-stress hunting techniques, game monitoring and encouraging respect for wildlife are all part of the program at Trapper Creek Lodge. This is a spectacular area for elk and deer.
Luxury
Luxury at Trapper Creek Lodge is a combination of the Wyeth family’s ingenuity in 1929, when it was built, and the current owners’ appreciation for Western taste and style. The Great Room is magnificent, the décor is breathtaking and everything from the cuisine to the elegant guest rooms is built for upscale comfort.
Nature
The mountain trails and breathtaking rock formations surrounding Trapper Creek Lodge are amazing enough. But minutes away you can experience the Big Horn Basin, with fantastic fishing and important dinosaur track sites. Explore the Bighorn National Forest and the Cloud Peak Wilderness - the ultimate Wyoming nature getaway.
Cabins And Cottages
Look back into history from the cozy and comfortable two-bedroom, two-bath Trapper Cottage, which overlooks the original guest ranch and its related structures which date back to 1858.
